Our volunteers fuel this mission.

We know that God has given us the skill sets to do the job that is needed to provide for these children through Upstate Backpack Blessings and has brought us to this place in order to use them to help and serve others.

It takes a lot of hands, energy and joy to fulfill the mission of Upstate Backpack Blessings. God has blessed us with 25 faithful volunteers who pack bags, pick up the weekly food order, restock the shelves, and deliver the bags to the schools each week of the school year. Some of them serve in multiple roles.

Pack bags

On Mondays during the school year, 2 bi-monthly teams walk over 1.25 miles to fill 500 bags each week. Each bag weighs 4.5 pounds.

Pick up weekly food order

2 drivers pick up the weekly food order each Tuesday morning during the school year and deliver it to the facility.

Re-stock shelves

Also on Tuesday mornings, 2 bi-monthly crews restock the shelves with food to be used for the next Monday pack. 500 of each of the 12-14 items. They also break down all the packaging boxes for recycling and replenish the shelves with the incoming food order.
